PROPERTY REVALUATIONS: DOCRRA assistance results in a successful outcome

DOLPHIN COAST RESIDENTS & RATEPAYERS ASSOCIATION

The following was received from Mr. Frans de Klerk from Salt Rock regarding his experience with the recent property revaluations.  Mr. de Klerk is a DOCRRA member and has this to say about how DOCRRA was instrumental in helping him declare and resolve a dispute with regard to his valuation:

“When my R1.9 million valuation for my holiday home in Salt Rock suddenly jumped to R4.5 million, I needed help. I contacted DOCRRA and became a member. They assisted me with the forms for an objection as well as a Lightstone estimate of R2.6 million for my house. When I heard nothing from KDM and my July rates account reflected the non-market related valuation of R4.5 million. DOCRRA advised me that I should declare a dispute and with their assistance and guidance, I did so. Within a few days there was a reaction from the municipality referring to a delay of their objection reviews, but that they will attend to it. Three weeks later I received confirmation that my valuation has been reconsidered and amended to R2.6 million, and a very friendly email message of apology. Thank you team DOCRRA. Joining as a member is probably my best investment ever and is a no brainer.”
