The Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) was caught off guard when the DOCRRA finance committee arrived with 50 plus queries on their recent audit reports.
The Auditor General, External Independent Audit Committee, and DOCRRA, share some grave concerns on the Annual Financial Statements and Annual Report on the performance of KDM.
MPAC has to report back to the KDM Council once they have considered these reports and the DOCRRA questions and concerns, all 50 of them. This is the first time DOCRRA is participating in this forum and we owe a debt of gratitude to the volunteers that have worked through the 526 page report, on short notice, and who identified the 50 or so critical discussion points. We look forward to the final MPAC report that goes to Council.
Now that we have grabbed the tail of the Tiger, we’re not letting go. Interested members are welcome to join in and support the crucial process of getting our Municipality to account for and explain their actions, or not.
We, DOCRRA, will continue to promote and protect the interests of all residents and ratepayers within the jurisdiction of the Dolphin Coast area. However, the more community representation and support we have, the more influence we have. Therefore, we urge you to become a member of DOCRRA.
